Kolon Plastics Inc. said on Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with Netspa, a South Korean recycling social venture, to jointly develop engineering plastics based on marine waste such as discarded fishing nets as raw materials.
The agreement was signed at Kolon Tower in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, where the two parties agreed to collaborate on producing eco-friendly plastic products using marine waste-based renewable nylon technology.
Netspa will process marine waste into plastic pellets that can be reused for making new products.
Kolon Plastics will then use the pellets from Netspa to make high-performance materials for automotive parts and electrical and electronic products after verifying their quality and functionality.
